3-D Ultra Pinball is a science fiction based pinball game developed by Dynamix and published by Sierra On-Line in 1995 for Windows and Mac. This game takes the general idea of pinball and adds crazy elements into it.

The game is based on a space simulation game known as Outpost (a Sierra On-Line title, 1994). You can play on three different pinball tables that you warp between. The tables are Mine, Colony, and Command Post and each have their own goals associated with them. Each table also has a set of 5 mini tables to conquer in order to complete it. Just like real pinball you have flippers that you bop the ball around with and try to score points. But Ultra Pinball takes it up a notch by adding missions and things like comets destroying sections of the board and many other random happenings. The game isn’t all about scoring points, it has a bit of a plot. You are attempting to build a spaceship and then launch it to beat the game. Though the plot is much more involved than this simple directive.

The goal of Ultra Pinball was to create a fun pinball experience that you couldn’t get anywhere else and I would say they succeeded. The game was praised for its graphics and the fact that it made a pinball game ‘work’ on computer. With plenty of missions to keep you busy, this game is a fun spin on traditional pinball. You may find yourself addicted, but at least you won’t have to worry about running out of quarters.

I was able to get this working in 2021 on a modern windows 10 PC.
I will explain my steps, these should also work if you own a true physical copy
- Download the ISO file from here
- Check out this website http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewSierraInstallers.html
- download the 3d ultra creep night installer
- Mount the iso file (I used a free iso mount called WinCDemu, but there are others)
- run the new installer you just downloaded
- Pick the drive you mounted the iso on
- Follow all the other prompts on the installer
It should then install, and allow you to play with no cd and on windows 10. At least it did for me. 5 minute process for me.
The menus prior to the game starting were a little funny, so mileage might vary. Good luck, TONS of nostalgia here

I played this with my high school daughter and son. Now, their kids are graduating high school. I came across my old game, and couldn't make it work. I googled this and found this website. I downloaded it. I couldn't make it work, however, I read some of the comments above. One suggested Upball 2/Pinball2 and it works!!! Thank you so much. It is a fun game to play.

I somehow recently came into possession of an original installation CD of this game. I first got it running on real Windows 98 running in QEMU PC emulator, on Windows XP. I was then able to install and run it directly on a physical Windows XP laptop, by running the installer in Win 98 compatibility mode, then setting the installed EXEs also to run in Win 98 compatibility mode.
This game is *amazing* -- way better than any of the other 'virtual pinball' apps I've tried (though there are still a few I haven't), and most of the physical tables I've ever played! Excellent and seamless integration of 'non-physically-realizable' elements into the game, huge number of things to explore, always something happening 'out of the corner of your eye' (exactly as it should be in a 'creepy'-themed game!), etc. etc. etc. This thing is really a triumph and masterwork of SHEER FREAKING GENIUS CREATIVITY. I *love* it!

THANKS A LOT :-)) First try with D-defend reloaded; then built a virtual drive by myself (with tutorial help!) and now it works soooo fine! Now I go to: Upball 2 / Pinball 2 (maybe it will help other players; read this somewhere).

I have all of these games on the Pinball by Sierra and none of them work on Windows 7 Pro, and I highly doubt they will work on Windows 10. If you really want to play these old, great games, you're gonna have to buy online a computer already built with a Windows 98SE installation and all components installed as well.
